MARIE MARX

Marie Cook was born in Plains, Montana, moved to Juneau at the age of twelve and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1993. Marie received her undergraduate degree from Boston College in 1997. She then spent five years teaching English internationally, living in and traveling to places from England to Russia. In 2000 she married Hans Marx, a 1991 Juneau-Douglas High School graduate. Marie received her J.D. from Tulane University in 2005, graduating in the top ten percent of her class (magna cum laude). She was admitted to the Alaska bar in 2005. In addition to the Alaska Supreme Court, Marie is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Alaska.

Marie started her law career as a law clerk for the Hon. Patricia A. Collins, Superior Court Judge in Juneau, clerking from September 2005 to September 2006. She worked for Baxter, Bruce & Sullivan during law school before joining the firm as an associate in September 2006.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
• Presided over numerous hearings as Special Master while clerking for Judge Patricia A. Collins.

• Elected into membership of the Order of the Coif.

• Adjunct Professor, Personal Injury and Property Damage, University of Alaska Southeast, 2006.

• Member, Harborview Site Council, 2006-present.
