BENJAMIN E. BROWN

Benjamin Brown was born in Anchorage, Alaska and attended school there, in Honolulu, and in Palmer before graduating from Palmer High School.  Ben graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service.  He moved between Juneau and Anchorage working as a legislative aide over the course of six legislative sessions and interims.  Ben graduated from Northeastern University’s School of Law in May 2001 and passed the Alaska Bar examination in July 2001.  He returned to Juneau and served as a law clerk to Superior Court and First Judicial District Presiding Judge Larry Weeks.  Ben subsequently served as an administrative hearing officer for the Alaska Department of Revenue, legislative lobbyist for the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, and research director for U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski’s 2004 campaign.  His community service has included extensive work with public broadcasting and three years as Chairman of the Board of Directors of KTOO-FM&TV.  Ben has served on the Anchorage Sister Cities Commission and the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Alaska State Museum and the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council Board of Trustees.  He currently is the Vice-Chairman of the Alaska State Council on the Arts, Vice-President of the Board of Directors of CoastAlaska, Inc. (the regional consortium of public radio stations in Southeast Alaska), and a member of the Juneau Performing Arts Center Commission.  Ben greatly appreciates the beauty and quality of life in Alaska’s capital city.  In addition to the Alaska Supreme Court, he is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Alaska.
